Residential-type pitched roofs shed water and thus the demands on the system are far less rigorous than are the demands on a commercial roofing system that must be waterproof.

The worker in the photo is installing a high tech chopped fiberglass and emulsion roofing system. This high-tech system uses chopped Owens Corning fiberglass in much the same way a fiberglass boat or tub is built, but clay-based emulsion asphalt is used in place of resin. The result is a very durable, seamless, watertight shell over just about any roof type.

The chopped fiberglass system restores metal roofs, built-up roof (tar & gravel), coal tar pitch roofs, SPF (polyurethane foam) roofs, etc.
